The Savior in conflict with Satan
The Gospels during the season of Lent record episodes in the Savior’s ministry when he confronts the enemies that oppose his work to save. On the First Sunday in Lent we remember his conflict with Satan who sought to deter him from the path to cross. We find great comfort in Jesus’ victory: Satan cannot derail Jesus in any way! We also find an example in our battles with the devil. As Jesus did, we employ the Word of God.
Prayer of the Day
Lord our strength, the battle of good and evil rages within and around us, and our ancient foe tempts us with his deceits and empty promises. Keep us steadfast in your Word, and when we fall, raise us up again and restore us through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
